I’m sometimes asked about the wisdom of applying for a job a little beyond your current level. For example, the job asks for a minimum of 8 years of experience and you only have 5 1/2 or 6 years. If the experience you have is very strongly aligned with the specific skills we are looking for, go ahead and apply! You just never know how strong the competition is going to be and if your experience is “just right”, it might be enough. But, if you only have 2 or 3 years of experience, it really isn’t worth applying.
