My career started in advertising and public relations agencies, where I was exposed to the communication challenges and needs of all kinds of organizations and a multitude of tasks. I also worked with, and learned from, some awesome communication leaders.
I then followed my passion for books and literacy to a wonderful role at the Calgary Public Library managing and building the communication function. There I developed a lasting interest in civic affairs and city government.
Next, I served a stint in further education (another area of personal commitment) at SAIT Polytechnic where I managed communication, but also learned about and led fund development and alumni relations.
My next step was to Calgary Co-op, a retail food co-operative, whose values and community commitment struck a chord. I built a team of amazing communications professionals and together we moved the reputation of Co-op forward.
Since 1999, I’ve had the pleasure of building my own consulting practice. I focus on searching for talented communicators to match with good jobs, designing and structuring communications functions, teaching and training communicators and generally building capacity in communications. Cross Wise Communications is quite simply a collection of the work I like to do most!
